(flat-front chinos / flat, flat-front chinos)
…[they are] a symbol, as is the act of destroying [them]. Symbols are given power by people. A symbol, in and of itself is powerless, but with enough people behind it, blowing [them] up can change the world.
Though they may have had a proper beginning, worn as the uniform of British troops in India, Khakis have, for me, become the uniform of a past life.Every day Millions of men all over the world prepare for their daily grind at the j.o.b. by donning a fresh pair of Khakis.Often accompanied by a blue or white button up shirt, or a 3 button pullover, this staple of the working mans wardrobe is widely recognized and universally accepted.
Now as a man who hated every second of employment during my high paying/high responsibility corporate career, I have a certain stigma surrounding this uniform.I see khakis as pure middle wardrobe. What we use to look presentable, but still feel close enough to our favorite jeans. Its part of the same lie we tell ourselves about the existence of a middle class in America.*Spoiler* it doesn’t.There are only rich, and poor.
On that note, Im burning all my Khakis as mementos to a former relationship.
You can have Applebee’s too.
Catch me at a Hugo Boss near you.
