Recent Work – 2 Kinds

After 20 years of inactivity in the sport I have officially reactivated my desire to skate. The sleeping beast was awakened by my recent surfing excursions this summer. I got beat up by the currents in Tamarindo, Costa Rica, while my wife caught every wave like Jerry Rice.

After being home for a few weeks, I began missing the ride, and dug out my old Santa Cruz Roskopp board. I had to pry it out of the grips of my 5 year old, who had since adopted the now classic “old school” deck. If you have kids, you know you can’t just take things back without a fight. I ended up having to buy The Champ a replacement board of his own and opted for the $20 target version rather than spend more on a pro model.

After catching up on 20 years of technological changes in skateboards, I found myself buying a new board of my own. After two weeks of skating local street hockey rinks and tennis courts I headed to the skatepark.

An old high school buddy of mine met me at the park (after much protest from the wife ;) )  and I tried to work the rust and accumulated fear off. All I can say is “I’ll Be Back.”

So in 20 year I have picked up a few other skills. While we were at the park I met a couple locally sponsored BMX riders. I headed to the truck, grabbed my camera and shot these pics.
